Delicious Always more a fan of red wine, I bought this on spesh hoping for the best. It's a lovely drop, not too dry with a lovely hint from the Gerwurztraminer making it an interesting and very drinkable white wine. So had some Thresher vouchers. Usual 3 for 2 deal. Wifey getting too old for my beloved heavy reds. Saw the review saying this was stunning for the price. Bought three. Took first gulp and thought Oh hell, Mrs K (a very well developed, very dry palate) aint gonna like this. I almost spat it out, such was my palate's reaction. Bit like when you take a sip of your morning beverage, expecting tea but instead getting cofee. Nowhatimean? Anyway house rule is no bottle of wine is dispensed with until at least it has been given a half bottle chance. After a second taste I was put in mind of my first experience with Tokay (Alsace not Hungary) and how I horrified my vinofile father-in-law by gasping 'what the bloody hell is that?' Needless to say I became entranced by the esoteric delights in Tokay (not to say that I have also had some disgusting ones). So, Esmeralda seduced me to soldier on and, yes, the closest thing to Tokay this side of heaven - mysterious stuff. Hooked? Oh yes. The nose and palate are quite floral and it's not too heavy (11%). I recommend it for spicy food. I found it in Oddbins for £6.99 which seems a bit pricey if it's available for less elsewhere. It's a perfect aperitif or lunchtime white as it isn't too high in alcohol, yet is full in flavour. Refreshing, yet not too dry, it is aromatic with grapey and citrus flavours and has a delicate aroma of white flowers.
