A beautiful wine I have tasted the 94,95, 96, 98 and now the 2003. The 2003 at 14% is too high in alcohol for a Rioja. However, what I normally like about this wine is that it has poise and balance, it is somewhat reserved at first and needs to be aged a few years to fully bloom out. It has quite complex aromas of dusty minty blueberries, mulberries and hints of cloves and sometimes figs. It has a dapper medium bodied palate with a beautiful, silky texture, mediumish concentration and a lively medium length freshly fruited finish. I hope that this will never become a Parkerised wine.
