Brilliant Red Wine - just don't tell Dad I took it. I love Penfolds wines anyway, but this is truely the standout. It's still less than £20 which makes it great value. I recently got a bottle of the 1994 from Dad's cellar. Not only was it rich and elegant, it had developed wonderful secondary characters while still retaining primary fruit. This 94 still had time to go in the cellar and luckily we have a bottle or two remaining. The 2004 has just come on the market and its all of the 94 and more. The winemaker notes I read on the Penfolds website suggest good cellaring and I'd definitely agree. There are now two cases in my cellar (plus one for Dad to replace those bottles of 94 I'm bound to drink). If you haven't tried - do, it's a cracker. It is a full throttle red with enormous aromas of smokey, clovey, cedary mulberries, cassis,white pepper and incense. It has an outstandingly concentrated, fruity yet beautifully sculpted palate with a suave and plump middle and a long, slightly tannic and powerful finish. This wine ia a "must try".
