Not a patch on Alsace! i tried this on the merrit of the two reviews I read on this site. However...I much prefer the slightly oily, really in-your-face fruitiness of the real Alsace offerings. You could tell that this had been made to appeal to the safety-craving supermarket shopper, and I felt it lacked a certain degree of the show-boating attitude of its New World counterparts. It's got a really aromatic and mouth-filling flavour and stands up to most foods, even spicy. This version is not the most interesting I've had and I think they've tried to make the flavours more accessible and bland than it can be, but it still works.
