My preference I wasn't ever really sure what the characteristics of Rhone wines were. Having tried this wine - I am hooked. This is admittedly quite a big wine with a lot of fruit, pepper, chocolate, coffee and a bit of spice. Quite a lot of flavours to be getting on with I agree, but they work so well together that you really have to stop and break down the flavours you are getting. Tried this entire range at the Wine Fair in Islington at the weekend and I particularly enoyed this specimen. Lots of dark chocolate and moccha flavours going on, along with juicy red and black fruits. Probably better with a hearty meal, but a glass or two without is also thoroughly acceptable!
