2004 Altos de Tamaron Ribera del Duero, Spain, Softer than it once was but no matter this fully mature Duero red reeks of herbs and black fruits whilst its ripe, juicy, plummy palate is surprisingly easy to swig.

Already when the cork went out i got a wonderful apetite. It fulfills all that I want from a red Wine. And no oake or tanine. Taste it also to vanilla ice cream with liquriceriple.

I tried this because I wanted to see whether there was more to Spain than Rioja. Although it was a good, full-flavoured wine, I didn't find it any different from other big reds out there. I am still looking for a really interesting non-Rioja Spanish wine which will stun me with its originality and innovation - but I'm now thinking that I might have to pay more for the privilege.

Not as good as i was expecting for the price. Think I'll stick to Rioja from now on.
