Great wine from the Alba region of Northern Italy. Slightly lighter than Barolo, the king of reds, but ideal for most occasions. Goes really well with pizza, pasta and cheese. Reasonably heavy with a distinctive texture without being over fruity. Tastes more expensive than it is.
A very unusual blend of English grape varieties go into making this sweet Nectar. It isn't sticky though with its lovely floral and peach nose and refreshing acidity balancing out the sweetness. We tried this as part of a tasting matching English food to English wine and the pairing with the Bakewell Tart was superb. I have it on good authority though it even copes with lighter chocolate desserts, no mean feat.
What a great quaffing wine. Light in a Beaujolais kind of style packed with ripe cherry and raspberry fruit. Picked this up in Waitrose the other day for £4.86 which is such great value. Easy summer drinking, perfect for barbeques. Works equally well with sausages and barbequed salmon.
