I was saving this bottle for a very special occasion, and so decided that last night was that very occasion. This champagne was unlike anything I have ever tasted before, and just has so many layers to it and so much going on that it's hard to know where to start. The first mouthful was deliciously understated, but with an extraordinarily pronounced and mouthwatering backbone of acidity - you could definately tell that there was more desined to come. The next glassful was a completely different animal, and was just a lot more toasty and defined yet fantastically balanced. I was amazed by the extraordinary length of the champagne, which evolved and remained in the mouth for longer than I've ever known a flavour to remain. Krug Grande Cuvee is balanced, exciting, full of finesse and in conclusion absolutely stunning!
